Finalized Skeeter by Negaduck9 Finalized Skeeter by Negaduck9
I finally got the supplies to put the finishing touches on Skeeter. Her eyeglasses are now sturdy and attached to her head, her skirt is shorter, and there are a few other teeny modifications. Now she's finished! And on to the next project, the skull of which has photo-bombed the pic.

I just got some adhesive-backed black velvet, which makes excellent pupils, much better than the adhesive-backed felt I've been using. I replaced Janken's pupils so he wouldn't always be giving me the hairy eyeball.

I have to say, I really, really love Skeeter's eyes. And her gloves. And hair. And Jan's jacket :XD:

Heh. Her eyes are plastic spoons. Her gloves were made from leggings. Her hair is double-chain-crocheted yarn. And Janken's jacket is an Old Navy infant's jacket!

That's crazy! Although, if you think about it, not much different from Kermit's humble beginnings

LOVE it! It's always made me sad that there wasn't a Skeeter puppet. :)

Thanks! Be sad no more. Now if only she was part of the Muppet troupe itself...

Thank you, glad you like Skeeter!

The foam skull is a puppet-in-progress whose working name is Sneetch. All I'll say now is that it's another Fraggle.

Well, Henson has been trying to bring the Fraggles back for their 30th anniversary next year. You have seen the Ben Folds Five video, haven't you?

I took Janken to Dragon*Con and walked around with him, just talking to people. It amazed me how thrilled people were to see a Fraggle "in the flesh," even if he was never on the show. They talked to him, hugged him, had photos taken with him--and completely ignored me most of the time. Heh heh. There's still a lot of love out there for Fraggles!

I have a question, do you have a Youtube account?
I would love to see videos of the puppets.

I do have a Youtube account, but it's been years since I posted to it. I took down most if not all of my videos because they were ReBoot music videos, and Rainframe was getting all nasty and filing claims against its (former) fans.

Thank you! I got some thick, carrot-colored yarn, chain-looped it, then chain-looped the resulting strand until it was ropey and braided-looking. Then I cut it into lengths and sewed it to the skull. It took more than a skein, which is about a half a pound of hair!

LOVE IT!!! Fabulous job on her older design!! Based on the Muppet comics, right? I haven't read them but I heard that she appears in them in this design. You made a great puppet version of her! ^.^

Yes, this is based on the Skeeters comics. I urge you to find the "Family Reunion" arc. Disney put the 4-comic arc into one magazine and sold it for about $6 this year, and comic shops might still have it. Get it if you can; it's a fun read. :)

I don't know. She wasn't built for a performer; I just made her because I wanted to. I plan to perform her at Dragon*Con next year.

Well, I meant as in if the actual muppet performers saw her than you have to wonder how they might react when they see you using her. Hope that helps.
