Scooter, Pushbroom Hero by Negaduck9 Scooter, Pushbroom Hero by Negaduck9
I saw The Muppets on opening day. It was... wow. It was all I'd hoped for. The Muppets are back!

There were so many memorable songs and scenes in that movie. One that made me grin like a fool was the Muppets cleaning up the theater to the tune of We Built This City by Jefferson Starship. Say what you like about the song, it was ludicrously fun to watch. Scooter was rockin' out, using his pushbroom handle as a microphone. Hence this picture.

If you have any love for the Muppets in your heart, and you have not yet seen the movie, what're you waiting for? And if you have no love for the Muppets, I know thee not.

Oh I remember this scene. The song that popped up on the film was "We Built This City"
Singing revamp We built this city, we built this city of rock n' roll Singing revamp

I cannot wait to see Scooter in "Muppets Most Wanted." There will be music, mayhem, and a mystery to be solved.

I loved that movie! It brought back so many childhood memories. Only one bad thing came out of it- thanks to the movie being so popular- we had to spend almost an hour finding a movie theater that didn't have the film sold out! The Muppets have been part of my childhood since the beginning. The Muppet Movie was one of my first tapes, and I'm proud to call it my favorite movie.

I loved Scooter's scenes in the movie. In all honesty, he's one of my favorite Muppets. I think he's so cute!

Yeah! Another cool picture of Scooter! He's my #1 from the Muppets, I just like the guy, ever since I was a kid in the 80s.

Have you ever noticed that Scooter has a resemblance to John Denver?

I hadn't noticed any similarity between Scooter and John Denver (other than both looking really weird when they take off their glasses) but when I draw Scooter badly he looks kind of like H.R. Pufnstuf.

Yeah, for some reason, when I see Scooter on the Muppet Show, to me he looks sort of like John Denver, but only when they have their glasses on.

The name, Pufnstuf, didn't ring a bell, so I went and did a google search. I found it and I can say, yeah, he does favor him some. For some odd reason, those characters from that show look familiar to me. I wonder if somewhere early in my childhood as a little boy I saw that show, but yet have no memory watching it, but they all look so familiar to me, like I've seen them all before. I use to watch the PBS channel when I was a kid, that might be where I saw them. :teevee:

I grew up in the heyday of Sid & Marty Krofft. Pufnstuf, Liddsville, Sigmund & The Sea Monsters, Dr. Shrinker, Land of the Lost... there was even a Krofft-themed amusement park in Atlanta for a while.

You must be a few years older than me, I just missed them. But I do remember watching Land of the Lost on Saturday mornings back in the early 80s.

Actually, aside from the phone operators (while I'll have to see the movie again to know who else was there) I have 2 good ideas.

The first is something like this shot of Kermit's office with guest star photos [link] but in his mansion instead.

Another idea is TMS arches filled with all the cameo guest stars from the movie.

Even though he's a liar. He claimed he never went onstage. Say what? He was shoehorning himself into the show from the very first season!

... okay, so he was over-eager in the earlier days. And yes, he did shoehorn his way into the show. But he mellowed out later. Scooter became a more likable nerd as the show went on. Besides, he might've meant that he hadn't been on stage in a while, him being a more behind-the-scenes guy. Old nerves getting the best of him? Maybe. All I know is that Scooter is a nerd with a dream job, and he's neat no matter how much he screwed up or shoehorned or... whatever else in the past.

And with as much stage managing and pushbroom heroing as he did that day, no wonder the gofer slept the way he did on that hammock.

Oh, he kept going onstage until the very end; he just didn't have to force his way into the act. At first he was a twerp who was there only because his-uncle-owned-the-theater. He could have slacked off completely, knowing that no matter what he did they wouldn't fire him, but he quickly grew into the job, and before long made himself indispensable as a gofer, then a stage manager. And, of course, like every other Muppet--even the janitor--he was put on stage too.

I love Scooter's all-out, puppyish enthusiasm. He's got cute charisma. And he throws himself into whatever he does, so I bet he literally rocked out 'til he dropped.

In conclusion, "You are all naked!"

I was gonna say something here, but that last part just made me laugh so hard that I can't even remember anything. xDD

So yeah... enthusiasm, and stuff. Finding his niche inside the Muppet family. ... um, I'm sorry, I wish I had more to say...? xPP

I've been working on a Muppet fic, and what's weird is that some of the bits I have already put in place echo the movie. Even a gag about pretending the audience is naked. But it's Scooter telling someone else. (Namely Janken, who replies, "I'm a Fraggle! We're a clothing-optional species!")

I love that part too!

"....This doesn't feel right...."
Walter: Don't you remember? You guys used to do this to MUSIC!!

XD lol! I have to say one of my favorite scenes was when they had trouble getting the opening of the show right during rehearsal!!! =D LOVED IT!

FABULOUS JOB HERE!

A bit of cuteness to look for on the next viewing: check out the different sleeping positions when you see the hammocks from above. SCooter is flopped out on his stomach as if he just collapsed in bed without pulling the covers over himself. Ha! (And Gonzo is sleeping with the hens, wearing a Hugh Hefner-esque robe.)

Did you notice that when they were rehearsing the opening scene Thog couldn't get through the arches, and when they did the show he started out in front of them?

One little thing gave me chills: seeing everyone join hands before going onstage for The Rainbow Connection. You could see that, at that moment, they'd really slipped back into the groove, they were a showbiz family again. *sniffle*

OMG! I'll definitely have to look out for that!! Gonzo IS like a Hugh Hefner with the chickens!! XD foflol!!! :giggle:

AND OMG YES, I DID NOTICE!!1 I had to laugh at that! I mean, obviously, the fact that he couldn't get through the arch when the telethon actually started HAD to be done on purpose/done consciously....but it definitely stands out in the scene because it's different!!

I also loved like the references to their past movies!! Like when Sweetums ran after the car, "I WANNA GO TO LA, WAIT FOR ME, C'MON! NOT AGAIN!" lol! That was SO from the first film!!

I was wondeirng if one of the SS Muppets would make a cameo like Big Bird did in the first one, and Oscar in the Great Muppet Caper! :giggle:

OOH! And one thing I REALLY loved was how much deeper they made Piggy and Kermit's relationship. Like, it wasn't just about her annoying him, but they insinuated they had been married, had a house together, and then separated. Some deep things were going on with them...
Piggy: Who made that house for us?!
Kermit: Who's been keeping it up all these years!
Piggy: It's never about "us" is it?! It's always we! WE need you to come back...WE need you to help save the theater. You never focus on just US!

I mean it was some really emotional stuff! And Kermit....he was so sensitive in the movie. Sensitive and strong...like, he was scared to reach out to the past even though he wanted to....not only for Piggy but ALL of them because their family. but his connection with Piggy was DEFINITELY the strongest in this film. More than usual! I LOVED IT!!

AH! It's giving me Goose Bumps thinking about it again! And Gonzo owning a Plumbing Company!! XD FOFLOL! Another reference to the first film!

My only thing is that I wish Animal was a bit wilder in the film! :iconyayzplz:

It's not likely that the SS characters--or Fraggle Rock--would make cameos in a Muppet project, as they're not owned by Disney Henson owns the Fraggles, and IIRC CTW owns the SS characters. Still, it would have been nifty. BTW, did you know that Traveling Matt was at the wedding in The Muppets Take Manhattan?

They really did a great job on Kermit & Piggy, both there characterization and the dynamics between them. However, not ALL fans would agree with that, some people have very strong feelings on one side or another. I've seen a very impassioned "Kermit's a jerk!" diatribe recently.

I think they were saving Animal up for his break-out during The Rainbow Connection. Compared with how overused he has been lately, jammed into the camera not because he has something to add to the story, but because he's merchandisable (just like Pepe!) it's good to see him as part of the ensemble, one link in the chain. BTW, I loved the Sweeney Todd reference when Floyd gave him his drumsticks.

I saw the midnight premiere and then saw it again today. I absolutely love the movie and this scene was really great. I also loved the little bit before that when they were all just watching Scooter as he brushed the floor and hummed :XD: David Rudman does a decent job at voicing Scooter, but I will surely miss Richard Hunt.
