Scraps Versus Rags

I'm taking a little break from "A Refugee in Oz"... to get a head start on illos for another story, "Imposters in Oz." Here's The Patchwork Girl versus The Patchwork Woman. They are hard to tell apart, aren't they? The difference is in their necklines.

I'm trying to make these illos more solid and interesting in B&W, so I went a little crazy with the shading and texturing. The Patchwork Woman here is a refinement of the character seen in "Scraps?" I think I got the out-of-control red hair thing down a little better now, thanks to some inspiration from "Omaha the Cat Dancer."
