Kaliko's Bad Hair Day by Negaduck9 Kaliko's Bad Hair Day by Negaduck9
Another "Refugee in Oz" illo. I'm not even gonna try to explain this one. I drew it while trying to fight off the temptation to draw Dorothy and the Scarecrow as the cartoon Lydia and Beetlejuice. (Stuffs a field mouse into his jacket, "Save that one for later.")

Kaliko is fun to draw, now that I've got a decent handle on him. I've always liked drawing weirdie characters. Weird beats cute any day!

I love your classic illustration style. :)

Kaliko...test me...

Nome King's Chamberlain!? Always avoiding that direct wrath and knows how to be unobtrusive or just skedaddle... but not when to keep his yap shut when he's got a point to get across. ;)

Yes?

You're partially correct. That describes him up until Tik-Tok of Oz. This story takes place after that. ;)

Ah I'm not through all the Baum works yet. I'll be stuck with just the public domain bits of Plumkin's works for my fanfic research so if events that change him drastically happen after those, feel free to elaborate... wont be a spoiler for me. If it's in your book note me and I'll read it if it's out now... or read when published.

Cheerio! :)

Er... Tik-Tok of Oz is by Baum, and is in public domain. Myself, I gave up on RPT's books after reading five or six. I just didn't like her style, and ther characters and scenarios didn't ring true for me.

The book isn't out yet. I'm still finishing up the illos and waiting for the cover. After that, it must be laid out and then published. You can bet when all this rigamarole is finished I'll make plenty of noise about it!

I'm only halfway through Toc-tok of OZ. I know it;s PD. :) It's part of my research. Sorry I aught to have mentioned that's my current book. Even though I think I skipped ahead by reading Tinman of OZ... I couldn't resist. Also partway through road to... It's a tidge of a dull read but they bump into a lot of things and places so for fleshing out the world I was told, grin and bear it. Devoured all the EVIL parts of Emerald City of OZ browsed the rest... The goodie two shoes parts of that one pale compared to when he's talking about the four way Axis of Ozian evil.

I understand from what I've read on the web from people that Plumkin kiddies it up even more which will likely make me cringe, but I have to hit all the Public Domains I can find or read on the web if I can't find em at local shops. (shrug... gotta build the world... have to have the back up proof that Star was didn't have the first Force choke/lighting etc etc when the fanboys start picking at the comic.... Or the MGM musical "IS the Original and it's non-violent!" misinformed folk declare it's much to violent... I can say... "Oh no... Oh no you do not go there." Wag my finger at posts like that when they come when I do put out the comic.) So If I sound a tad crazy when I correspond it's only cause I need all the information I can in the shortest time possible. Sigh. Making me a little nuts.

On a saner note... Cant wait for yours. Are you writing as well as illustrating?

As an aside... Please join the group if you feel like it. So it's easier to keep track if nothing else. :)

Cheerio! :) (I will likely not bother you for a tad. I don't like to seem pushy/crazy. ;p Ok probably way too late on the crazy thing...)

Oh, it's no problem. Believe me, I've been pestered on DA, and you're not pestering.

Yes, I'm writing as well as illustrating. I've been writing for decades, but this is my first venture into the realm of publishable fanfic. Wish me luck - I'll need it!

And, yeah, ECoO does have... problems. Ozma can take pacifism just a little too far. She even outdid Nick in that department. That plot point plays into my next story, heh heh...
